Hello, I am 21 Female, Indian.
GMAT score- 600 (Q47, V26). no work ex. cgpa- 7.8. Economics background.
Please suggest me some safe good schools for MiM. I was thinking of Imperial, ESMT Berlin. I am also planning to give GMAT again and apply in round 2. But for now I want to apply with my current GMAT score of 600 and give it a shot in Round 1. Also do universities let you apply again after getting rejected once for one academic year?

I guess you are targeting European schools. In that case try for Edhec, Emlyon . If you are rejected in this academic year , you can only reapply next year. So I would suggest only apply to the top schools after your next attempt. Few schools have a minimum score for Quant and Verbal separately. So you would have to improve your verbal score and then apply.

hello people, just wanted to ask if any of you are facing this issue.

i’m a subscriber on eGMAT, and according to the subscription, I should have access to practice tests here on GMAT Club, but I’m unable to access them. Let me know if you’ve found a way to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance.

Should i improve my GRE socre or is it sufficient. There is no mention of average GRE score on the net for IIM A,B. Most mention only Gmat score

hi team, this is a question for the GMAT Club admin/experts: I have been prepping for the GMAT since June, today i gave my first official GMATprep Mock test.. and scored 650 ( Q:50, V:27) The Verbal score is abysmal i know :( I am confused what should be my next plan of action to improve on verbal ( My target score is 740) ?
P.S 1) I have completed about 3/4th of the OG
2) have given MGMAT mocks previously used to get 30-35 in verbal section

Hey hi everyone,
I have a question on CR approach. Can you advice how you overcame that?
1) I am taking around 4 to 5 mins to solve each CR questions.
(Time break up-
reading the passage - 1 min 30 sec, pre thinking- 45 to 50 sec , Option analysis - 2 mins)
Any suggestion to improve further?
Thanks in advance Dipesh!

Hi, This is a nuanced question that requires more details about your profile. At a surface level, your years of work experience are on the lower side, so it might be beneficial to aim for a higher GMAT score. Note that both of these schools have criteria they seek in applicants. Your career progression over the past three years must be weighed when assessing your fit or target GMAT for these programs.

There is no list per se. If you speak any additional language, like French, German, etc. You can consider schools in those countries. If not try to stick to English-speaking countries. The other factor is how much you are willing to pay for your degree. Schools can cost a fortune or minimal tuition fees. You need to set your limitations before searching for school.

School selection should be approached in a completely non-emotional and clinical manner. You need to align your strengths and goals with that of the schools and not be swayed by the temptation of rankings. Happy for you to DM if you need help. Hie, guys I am currently planning for my gmat around November end. I am at a level of preparation where I can 620 on my official mock test. My question here is I have 45 days moving forward and I have a job starting from 10-6:30 in the evening which I cannot quit and I do have to give my best for this exam. Will a 3 hour post Office preparation enough to achieve a good score, I know it is a very subjective question but any input will help me make a informed decision.

I was in a similar position and was at a level of GMAT 660 in my mock (with a full time job). By the end of the day your brain will get tired so I will suggest that you study from 6AM - 10 AM (as in before your work day starts). This is something which worked for me. I got a decent score of 700 after a month of preparation. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone. I’m new to GMAT club and I’m hoping to find motivation and support here. I’ve been studying for about a month for the Focus edition going from 550 (GMAT Q44 V27) initially to 575 (Focus Q78 V80 D77) currently. I put most of my efforts into verbal because of the low initial score, and now my scores for each section are about the same. Hopefully I’ll improve some more in the next month, and I can inspire other people on this journey.

Hi, Would be useful to know the breakdown of your GMAT into Q & V. It is not unusual for INSEAD to take in applicants in sub-700 range if their profiles are very solid. However, for ultra-competitive US schools, a solid GMAT has become an implied necessity.

To be honest, it’s difficult to provide any meaningful advice solely based on your industry and GMAT. An applicant profile is more than just the statistic it represents, which is why I suggest you speak with someone who understands the admissions process in depth and can ask you relevant questions to understand your profile better. Your NGO experience certainly seems to have the potential to make you stand out. Feel free to reach out should you need guidance.

Hi Nandini, I was once in a similar situation. I did everything possible to fit the preparation schedule into whenever I could find time. That also included my commute to the office and back, where I would attempt tough Verbal questions on my phone and during my office breaks. So, this was about two hours of verbal prep on the go, allowing me to keep the rest of the time after I got back from the office for quant practice.

There is no rule book for achieving a decent score on the GMAT. Ideally, you should look at the breakdown of the 620 and create your own targeted strategy for each section. However, I cannot emphasize enough how maintaining error logs for both verbal and quant questions has been useful in my GMAT journey. Revisit the logs every few days and reattempt the questions to check whether you have truly grasped the concepts or not. Best wishes for your preparation.

Since you are an Indian Male with a tech background, you belong to an overrepresented pool and so a GMAT score of 700 may not be that competitive for Harvard or Yale. Do you have the bandwidth to retake the exam and improve your score by another 40-50 points? The NGO experience will add a nice narrative and functional edge to the essays. These schools also typically look for international exposure. Do you have any stints abroad? Do DM in case of further queries.

Hii guys, I gave my gmat yesterday and got Q47-V33 with score of 660 and 7 in IR. In my mocks previously i was getting 550-570 range score only, with 590 in official mock i gave a day before actual gmat. While my quant score changed in between 42-48 in mocks, my verbal score was always really low. My best verbal score would be the one i got in actual exam. I want to apply in 2nd round of applications this year to get admission next year. And as I have a full time job I won’t get much study time before i try again too. Since i am not confident enough to improve in my gmat score even i try again, i am planning to apply this year itself. Any advices (maybe on colleges )?

Be careful when selecting schools. If you intent is to stay back in the USA post the MBA, then you need to stick to a STEM designated program to secure the 3Y OPT. Very few schools ranked 40-100 are likely to be STEM designated. Unless you intend to improve your score beyond 660, you will have limited choices where your score lends you some strength. Plus you should also look at whether the school will take you where you want to go.

Guys. I am dumb af. I don’t know which college I am applying to. I just focused on getting a good score first and THEN look for a college. And in the process, I forgot that we can send score upto 5 colleges directly after the exam.

I need help in identifying colleges in India (1 year PGPX courses) that I can apply to.

My mock scores have been between 700-730 (in 4 mocks). I expect to get a score of 690-720 in real thing 2 days from now. Which colleges can I apply?

My work exp: 4 years (So, IIM Culcutta, Bangalore are out)
International education (MS) from New York, 4 years of WorkExp in Pennsylvania, several projects for multiple companies, multiple research papers in finance/engineering, multiple certificates (mostly in finance), great LORs (CXO levels), etc.

Let’s say I score in my range 690-720, which can be my top 5 colleges?

How about 650-700 range 5 colleges? Thanks.

My exam is in 2 days, so I’d really appreciate it if somebody can provide me with a resource/link.

My work exp: 4 years (So, IIM Culcutta, Bangalore are out) International education (MS) from New York, 4 years of WorkExp in Pennsylvania, several projects for multiple companies, multiple research papers in finance/engineering, multiple certificates (mostly in finance), great LORs (CXO levels), etc. Let’s say I score in my range 690-720, which can be my top 5 colleges? I have been preparing for the GMAT since couple of months, had little inconsistency in between but have more or less made up for the lost time.
My GMAT scores have inconsistent for the first 3 official mocks-

1. 650 V35 Q44
2. 660 V34 Q47
3. 620 V31 Q44

Honestly the third one was a big blow as I was expecting a score increase, interestingly my number of questions wrong in test 3 was 2 less than test 1, but the scaled scores are the same. I am guessing I got more easier questions wrong in test 3.

I am really lost when it comes to Verbal, as I have completed OG, and practiced so many questions from GMATClub, but seems like I am not improving.
There are too many materials on how to improve and I am unable to strategize properly.

Has anyone gone through this particular situation? I would be really grateful for some tips or strategies that could help me.

PS- I have scheduled the test for November 24th so do not have too much time as well.

Hi, you may find a list of schools accepting GMAT, but you will have to do your own research on each of the programs you can actually apply to with GMAT your 4 years of work experience, and whose duration aligns with your requirements/expectations.
My top picks for you would be ISB and IIM A. Even though you may not be eligible at present for the other top executive MBAs/ MBAs for experienced professionals you may still send your scores to IIM B, C, IIML (IPMX), and XLRI (GM/GMP) which are all solid programs.

If you execute your application well (I mean really well!) and with a score above 700, I see a high chance of converting at least one among ISB and IIM A. You have significant international exposure to boast here and draw insights from. Do note that your application must have a conscientious narrative that takes into account your period of self-employment (as I saw in your profile elsewhere). It should also lay out a practical and well-thought-out career roadmap for your future with full awareness of the realities and challenges ahead. If you don’t hit the mark on this point, it can lead to a suboptimal result.
